Pecatu Indah Resort

Bali has a long and colourful history, its culture and charming inhabitants have long enticed travellers from around the globe to experience its uniqueness. With that of course have come the typical tourist trappings of Hotels and villas, catering to both the wealthy and those on limited budgets.

During the past few years, Bali has developed a whole new experience: Villas designed and built with the purpose of catering to those who wish to be a resident, or at least a long stayer. HOT! Property Bali, features many choices; styles, locations and price ranges of villas aimed at this ever increasing market. Most are attached to existing infrastructure, villages and towns, but here’s something new…

Whilst not everyone’s cup of tea, Pecatu Indah resort is by far the most interesting amongst the developments on the Bukit due to its sheer size and master plans which are staggering in their concept and ambition. Covering over 450 Hectares of land including prime beachfront, what is being planned is an extremely integrated real estate development that includes entertainment facilities, schools, commercial zones and hospitals, amounting to nothing short of a self-contained town.

The project started in 1995-96 with the clearing of land and laying of roads, power and pipe work, but all activity ground to a halt after the Asian economic crisis of 1998. The project lay dormant for eight or so years but has now gained momentum and seems to be taking off at a fair pace.

Indeed, anyone who has been to Dreamland Beach of late will have witnessed, amid mixed emotions, the outbreak of construction taking place all around the area, including an international standard 18 holes golf course. Additionally, large areas of land are being set aside for housing communities and mixed commercial/ residential estates from the gates all the way down to the beach.

As well as the large plots to be had by major investors, small parcels of land between 800 – 1000m2 are also being made available to individuals who wish to build their own homes. Pecatu Indah is developing the area primarily by selling plots outright to developers to build on under the guidelines of the resort, or forming joint ventures to develop hotels, entertainment facilities and community infrastructure.

Big names adding their support to the Pecatu Indah agenda include the Condotel and The Westin, along with a number of other top brand hotel groups, which cannot be named at this stage. Adding to this will be a large selection of top-class restaurant and nightlife facilities, gracing the cliff-tops and beach-fronts, thus creating an exciting hub of activity in the Bukit that offers an alternative away from the traditional areas of Kuta and Seminyak.
